SR 74 Interchange Engineering Underway

The South Fulton Community Improvement District (CID) strongly supports improvement to the interchange at SR 74 and I-85. This interchange is among the most congested on I-85 south of Atlanta and volumes are expected to increase by more than 50 percent by year 2040.  Significant freight traffic is mixed with commuters and other traffic throughout the day.

The CID has been working with local governments in Fayette, Coweta and Fulton counties and businesses and The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) over the past few years to set a vision for the area and provide the financial support necessary to construct a Partial Cloverleaf Interchange.

The South Fulton CID Supports Economic Development

The CID is committed to providing efficient and safe access to and from the Interstate to protect existing businesses and encourage growth of new ones.  The CID promotes and support economic growth in the South Fulton area by improving key corridors for commuters and industry alike. Our goal is to improve access to existing jobs; attract additional investment with new job creation; increase commercial and residential real estate values; and expedite freight/cargo movement while reducing traffic congestion and improving safety.

Local warehouse distribution operations in the immediate vicinity of the SR 74 and I-85 interchange have indicated significant increases in freight volume in the coming months.  South Fulton, Coweta and Fayette Counties all have large tracts of undeveloped land located in areas that market the Atlanta airport, the CSX intermodal facility, and various commercial, manufacturing, education, health care and other resources in the CID area.
