Success Stories

Oakley Industrial Boulevard Construction

Thanks to federal, state and local funding the City of Fairburn and the South Fulton CID, the Oakley Industrial Boulevard Upgrade project from SR 138/Jonesboro Road to Fayetteville Road was completed in 2016.

The project upgraded 1.69 miles of the Oakley Industrial Boulevard from two to three lanes and added turning lanes and shoulders. New sidewalks give pedestrians access to local businesses and provide a safe place to wait for the local school bus. The Oakley Industrial Boulevard corridor provides access to key industrial areas, including the Southpark Industrial Park, one of the state’s critical logistics centers.

Oakley Industrial Boulevard Bridge

This project was the highest priority for the South Fulton CID and largely the reason for its formation. Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) began construction in early 2005 and the Grand Opening was held August 24, 2006. The bridge connects Oakley Industrial Boulevard over the CSX Railroad Tracks. Several CID members donated right of way to Fulton County to facilitate the development of this project.

Oakley Industrial Boulevard Extension to Bohannon

Oakley Industrial Boulevard has been extended (2 lanes) from the current dead end (near Senoia Rd/SR 74) to Bohannon Road. The project was completed by Simmons Vedder, with assistance from the South Fulton CID.

SR 74/Senoia Road at Oakley Industrial Boulevard Traffic Signal

A signal was recently installed at SR 74/Senoia Rd and Oakley Industrial Blvd.

The CID along with several major property owners paid for the signal study and design. The CID paid for part of the construction costs and monitored the project to ensure that the project was completed on time and within budget.

Fayetteville Connector

The Fayetteville connector is a connecting roadway between Oakley Industrial Boulevard and Fayetteville Road, adjacent to Ralston Purina and the MD Hodges property. MD Hodges and Exel, Inc. donated the property to Fulton County to develop the roadway.

SR 19/Spence at Oakley Industrial Boulevard Intersection Improvements

The increasing development and safety concerns along this corridor required a signal and intersection improvements. CID funded construction was completed in Summer 2005.
