Completed in 2021, this roadway extension funded by the South Fulton CID adds an access point to the businesses on Bohannon Road, as well as additional routes to alleviate growing truck traffic in the area. This roadway in the City of Fairburn provides a connection between Howell Avenue at the intersection of Fairburn Industrial Blvd/SR 74 to Bohannon Road.

The South Fulton CID is working with the City of Fairburn to add sidewalks to Bohannon Road. The sidewalks will run from McLarin Road to Oakley Industrial Boulevard.

Currently, workers traveling from the MARTA stop along Bohannon Road have to walk on the roadway or dirt shoulder for much of the corridor.

The design for the sidewalks is complete, and the project will be under construction in the coming months.

In April 2020, MARTA began running a special service temporary bus route for Oakley Industrial Boulevard that has now been made permanent. The route connects essential staff who work along Oakley Industrial Boulevard with MARTA’s College Park station, the SR 74 Park and Ride, and several stops along the boulevard.

The SFCID funded civil engineering design for an access road to relive more traffic from SR 74 and connect to the park and ride. The project included a 3-lane commercial access road with curb and gutter, sidewalks on both sides of roadway, lighting, storm drain system, and 80’ right-of-way from the existing dead end.

The South Fulton CID recently finished a Multi-Modal Transportation Study to understand how the CID’s transportation infrastructure is being used for the handling of freight and local resident and commuter mobility. The purpose of the Plan is to develop and prioritize multi-modal transportation solutions within the study area.

The 200-space park and ride is located on the southeast side of SR 74 under the GA Power Lines and serves carpool and vanpool commuters. Oakley Industrial Boulevard was upgraded from SR 138 to Fayetteville Road. The project length is approximately 1.75 miles on Oakley Industrial and includes the intersections with SR 138. It was completed in Sept/Oct 2015 and construction costs totaled $4.1M.
