SOUTH FULTON CID EXPANSION

South Fulton CID is investing in local opportunity.

The South Fulton Community Improvement District (CID) is currently holding conversations across the Cities of Fairburn, Palmetto, South Fulton and Union City to identify new and potential areas of industrial growth. Property owners within these identified areas are being given the opportunity to join the South Fulton CID to bring greater resources to the area quicker, plan and develop infrastructure improvements more rapidly, and create collaborative opportunities for property owners and businesses to create a better community together.  

BENEFITS FOR NEW CID AREAS

TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS

The CID is actively working on connectivity throughout the district and beyond by addressing critical transportation challenges such as improving access to industrial and commercial areas, optimizing traffic flow, and supporting infrastructure upgrades that benefit both businesses and residents. 

 

IMPROVED PUBLIC SAFETY

Public safety is a top priority. New partnerships with local police departments and exploring innovative solutions such as mobile surveillance trailers will enhance safety and provide a sense of security for all stakeholders. 

 

BEAUTIFICATION

Community partnerships are being explored as part of this expansion to bring a new level of care and attention to the district’s visual appeal. 

 

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

The CID works to build stronger connections among property owners, businesses, and local governments to work together on shared goals for the community’s future. 

TARGET EXPANSION AREAS

AerialExpansion

The 2026 expansion focuses on three key zones, each with unique opportunities, challenges, and priorities: 

AerialWest

West Zone (Fairburn, South Fulton, Palmetto): 

This newly developed industrial area features a high density of redeveloped parcels along Roosevelt Highway / Highway 29.  

  • Short-term Efforts: The new developments are facing infrastructure issues and the CID is working to bring property owners together with local and regional entities to solve these complex problems.  
  • Long-term Efforts: The CID is looking to assist these newly developed properties with improved access to I-85.  
AerialCentral

Central Zone (Fairburn):

 

Building on the progress of the 2024 expansion, the Central Zone is focused on industrial properties at the southern corner of Roosevelt Highway and Fairburn Industrial Highway.   

  • Long-term Efforts: Address connectivity challenges raised in ongoing discussions with property owners. 
AerialEast

East Zone (South Fulton and Union City): 

 

This rapidly developing area consists of multiple areas:  

 

Commercial Corridor of Jonesboro Highway, consisting of primarily commercial businesses and car dealerships. 

  • Short-term Efforts: New public safety initiatives to benefit local business security.  
  • Long-term Efforts: The CID is looking to assist these newly developed properties with improved infrastructure.

 

Oakley Industrial Corridor between Jonesboro Road and Flat Shoals Road, Shannon Mall redeveloped industrial area, Goodson Road corridor, and Royal South Parkway corridor.  

 

  • Short-term Efforts: Ensuring coordinated growth and problem-solving while advocating for Highway 138 / I-85 Interchange Improvements.  
  • Long-term Efforts: Long-term project alignment with the Highway 138 / I-85 Interchange Improvements to enhance the accessibility and mobility of the corridors.
